Covid-19 Vaccine

Covid vaccines for 6months to 5 years old

The FDA and CDC have authorized the use of BOTH Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines for pediatric use.

If you have a child that is 6 months old up to 5 years then contact your pediatrician's office in the first instance to organize vaccination for your child.

If you have trouble getting to see your pediatrician, ALL pharmacists in the USA have been given emergency authorization to vaccinate young children down to the age of 3 years old for Covid-19.

Please call Nutmeg Pharmacy and our highly trained staff will assist you.

WHO CAN GET A SECOND BOOSTER?

People in certain groups or situations can get a 2nd COVID-19 booster. If you’re in one of those groups or situations, it’s up to you whether to get a 2nd booster right now, based on the benefits and risks the vaccine may provide to you. Your healthcare provider can help you review your options.

Are you eligible?

Right now, you’re eligible for a 2nd COVID-19 booster if you:

  • Are 50 years of age or older and got your first booster at least 4 months ago

  • Are moderately or severely immunocompromised, 12 years of age or older, and got your first booster at least 4 months ago

  • Got 2 doses of J&J/Janssen vaccine at least 4 months ago

Are you (or is someone you live with) more likely to get very sick?

Certain factors can make it more likely someone will get very sick from COVID-19. It may be helpful to get a 2nd booster now if you are (or if someone you live with is):

  • Moderately or severely immunocompromised

  • More likely to get very sick from COVID-19

  • More likely to be exposed to COVID-19 through your job, where you live, or other factors (such as frequent travel or large gatherings)

  • In an area with medium to high COVID-19 community levels

  • Or if someone you live with is unvaccinated

Can you wait?

You may consider waiting to get a 2nd booster if you:

  • Had COVID-19 within the past 3 months

  • Feel that getting a 2nd booster now would make you not want to get another booster in the future (a 2nd booster may be more important in fall of 2022, or if a new vaccine for a future COVID-19 variant becomes available)

COVID-19 BOOSTER SHOT - UPDATE NOVEMBER 2021

For individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and it has been SIX months since you completed the course if you are 18 years or older the FDA and CDC have cleared the way for you to get a BOOSTER shot.

For the nearly 15 million people who got the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, BOOSTER shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.

The FDA has fully approved the use of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine and it's expected they will also do the same for the Moderna and the Johnson and Johnson 1-shot Covid vaccine, which currently are cleared for emergency use.

Vaccinations in the US have been undertaken in phases with front-line health workers, seniors and those with a compromised immune system and essential workers being given the vaccine first.

Nutmeg Pharmacy Group, has been one of many independent pharmacies where you can get your vaccination against Covid-19.

If you still haven't been vaccinated, then contact your local Nutmeg Pharmacy to arrange a day and time to come in for your vaccination. With the DELTA  and other variants very much an issue right now, the need to get vaccinated is more important than ever.

The vaccine comes in two parts, meaning you'll get an initial shot and then a second and final shot 3 to 4 weeks later. We will contact you again when it's time for you to have your second shot unless you are given the Johnson and Johnson vaccine, which is a one-shot-only process.

THIRD and FOURTH  doses have now been cleared by the FDA and CDC recently for those who are 'immunocompromised' and aged 50+  You can get those THIRD and FOURTH doses now by contacting your local Nutmeg Pharmacy to arrange an appointment.

And BOOSTER shots have been authorized by the CDC and the FDA for all THREE vaccines and if you are 18 years or older then schedule your BOOSTER shot with your local Nutmeg Pharmacy.

Your health is our number one priority, now and always - and Nutmeg Pharmacy Group will keep you up-to-date on the Covid-19 vaccines and boosters as we find out ourselves.
