Help us to help you!
The cost of your prescription drugs in the U.S. is dictated by Pharmacy Benefit Managers or (PBMs)
These are powerful organizations who not only cause you to pay more for your essential medications but also hurt pharmacies like Nutmeg Pharmacy by charging us money on a varying scale on every prescription we fill, which in turn means we are unable to always fulfil our mission of bringing you the best and most valuable drugs and services.
But we can make a difference if you're prepared to have your voice heard.
There is legislation going through Congress that will rein in the abusive behaviors of PBMs and make them more accountable and transparent to you and to us.
So how can you help?

I am a concerned and affected citizen on this issue.
I urge you to cosponsor S. 4293, the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Transparency Act of 2022 sponsored by Sens. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) and Charles Grassley (R-Iowa). This legislation seeks to bring greater transparency and accountability to pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). This bill passed out of the Commerce Science and Transportation Committee by a bipartisan 19-9 vote and is supported by 207 organizations.
PBMs are behemoth companies whose business practices impact patients and independent pharmacies like mine. PBMs determine what drugs are covered on a formulary and on what tier, what pharmacies a patient can go to, and how much pharmacies are reimbursed. They even use pharmacy data to steer patients to pharmacies that the PBM owns or has an ownership interest in.
S. 4293 prohibits many of these unfair practices and gives the FTC and state attorneys general greater enforcement authorities to ensure PBMs are not using their position to harm patients or to disadvantage their competitors.
S. 4293 is common sense and bipartisan and I urge you to actively support this bill by joining as a cosponsor and urging prompt floor action by Majority Leader Schumer and Minority Leader McConnell.
Thank you for your consideration and for your service to our community.
